Biography

Vidas Pinkevičius (b. 1949) was born in Gruzdžiai, Šiauliai district, Lithuania. In 1973, he graduated from Vilnius Art Institute, wall-painting-mosaic speciality. From 1973 he works in Klaipėda Children Art school (currently - Klaipėda Adomas Brakas Children Art School). From 1986 he is a member of Lithuanian Artist Union. He participates in exhibitions with oil paintings. Many of his paintings are in private collections in USA, Russia, Lithuania, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and elsewhere. V.Pinkevičius has also taken part in more than 40 personal exhibitions in Lithuania as well as in several international art exhibitions in Russia, Sweden, and USA. V.Pinkevičius mostly paints figure compositions with mithological and symbolical themes as well as landscapes. Artist often explores motives of blossoming lonely apple-trees, gardens, green meadows in spring or grey autumn still. Lithuanian folk motives and biblical stories are also very important in his creative work. Main features of his works are expressionistic style, dramatic form and texture, as well rich colour modes.
